From listening and understandingto awareness and feeling

First we listen and work out what the music is about, which instruments are heard and which voices sing. Then come the story of how it was written and the facts that help to understand its true emotions and feelings more deeply.

  1. Mozart · 1791

    Requiem

A prayer for those who cannot be brought back. Mozart's last work: he did not live to finish it, and his pupil did.

    14 movements · 50-55 min

  2. Vivaldi · 1725

    The Four Seasons

A year from the first flowers under the snow to a hard winter. Each season has a sonnet, and its lines are printed right in the score.

    12 movements · 40-43 min

How it works

  • We listen

All the movements can be played together or one by one, in any order.

  • We read

The music comes with synchronised texts: the words sung by the choir and soloists or, as in Vivaldi's Four Seasons, sonnets.

  • We understand

Besides the texts, we have gathered manuscripts, engravings and other interesting materials and facts that help to understand the age in which this music was made.

  • We spread the word

Every comment, review or suggestion of yours matters. Understanding emotions and sharing them is the main aim of this project. So tell us about yourself, about a concert you went to, about a movement you listened to, even if there was something you did not like. And do not forget to share with others and to support us.
